Great airport. Got everything you need to cover some time while you wait for your flight. They got a fast 'smart' passport check service and a quick efficient team that checks your luggage. With the Gatwick Express train service you are within 35minutes in Central London (Victoria Station)Must visit: Harry Potter Store. Almost the same as the one in Kings Cross Station. A smaller store but the items are little bit cheaper here.
Gatwick Airport deserves praise. It is so much better than Manchester. They should visit to see how it should be done. I have passed through several times in the past year and each time easy and pleasant passage through security. Plenty of places to sit. Well done on efficient running of an airport
I arrived at 12:30AM and had to wait 4hrs for a connecting flight. You have to go through passport control and then security again. Why not just put you in your connecting terminal? Hey, you can easily re-do the security check even. But passport control AND security again? I'm rooting for Croatia from now on....Gatwick sucks!
It's a great airport if you're needing waste time before your flight! There are a large variety of shops, charging stations/outlets, and restaurants to choose from during your wait. The terminal is easy to navigate especially since all of the Arrival/Departure Screens use state of the art screens/technology.
With over 3000 reviews there isn't much to add except that, as with many airports these days it's impossible to obtain fresh cold water for your refillable water bottle and one is forced to purchase bottles of water, which is not really acceptable in these days when countries are trying to reduce single-use plastic. Update - some areas of the north terminal still have not been 'updated' and have old style toilets with standard washbasins that allow you to turn the handle to deliver pure cold, delicious drinkable water and fill your reusable bottle!!
